Out and about in Redbridge

Well the past few weeks have been very hectic in Redbridge. I have had a number of issues raised by residents for me to act on. The Redbridge Residents association was very interesting and it was good to hear residents views in a formal environment. A number of which have and are being acted on, residents raised the issue in Old Redbridge that there were not enough dog bins. So a call has now gone in and we can expect bins in and around Gover and Westover Road as well as Test Lane.

The past few weeks have been very interesting in terms of politics in the city. The minority Conservative Administration was removed by a pact between Labour and Liberal Democrats. Many residents have been getting letters and leaflets from me on this. A number of successful and outward looking policies have now been scrapped by the new coalition.

Our 10% council tax discount has been scrapped, which would have saved many hard pressed pensioners a lot of money on their tax bills. Our policy of more community policing through an increased number of special constables have been scrapped. Our plans for a quarter of a million hours of extra sport for our children have also been scrapped.

The lowest tax rise in Southampton's history (just 2.99% under us) has been pushed upto 3.5% by Labour and the Liberals, without any discount for potential special constables or pensioners.

So I guess this shows, Vote Liberal get Labour, and Vote Labour get Liberal! The Conservatives are the only party who can offer lower taxes and more police in the city.
